Question: How would you describe your personality? Answer: Pretty, calm and cool… and not. I really don't get too low. I don't know what specifically.

Question: How do you feel about the wand and do you think it relates to your character?

Answer: Yeah, can you remind me about the details? Response: Alright, so from what I found on Pottermore it describes you as a very open minded person. So I have the end of the wand opening up, to show that trait. I also got that you like things to be in order and consistent as well as streamlined and organized.

Answer: I would agree, that also goes along with my teaching style and kinda the way I do things. I'm definitely open to different mindsets and a lot of different personalities and opinions. I also have the way I'm going to do my thing, the way I'm going to teach, the way I'm going to try and live my life. So I would say that's really accurate. All right, thank you.

Austin is the special educations teacher and is a fan of Harry Potter so naturally I set out to design a wand that matched his personality. When I design a wand I have people take the wand test on pottermore.com this gives me the information I need to design and create a specially designed wand. When I interviewed Austin I was surprised to find that he had already memorized his wands schematics. He said it was “Beech wood, ten and a half inches, and a unicorn hair core.” Unfortunetly he hadn't recalled the flexibility but I didn't need that. I enjoyed how the wand complemented his teaching style as well as incorporating that into the design was an interesting and fun project.
